50 WAYS TO HOLD YOUR FENCE UP
(tweaked version)
I’ve been to Housing weekly since they handed me the keys.
I’ve asked them so politely: would you fix the fences, please?
But they are “hard of hearing” and they do it with such ease.
Must be fifty ways to fix the fence up.
I know it’s really not my habit to annoy
But I can’t think of anything that I can now employ
To get some basic safety that will bring a little joy
There must be fifty ways to hold your fence up.
Fifty ways to hold your fence up.
Just prop up the gate, Kate
Use an old rope, Hope
You can even use string, Bing
Just listen to me.
Use an old brick, Mick,
Don’t need to do much, Dutch
Just hold up the fence, Spence
An’ keep livin’ in Glebe.
It grieves me so to know there is no way, it’s just so mean.
I wish that I could find a way to fix my fence’s lean
We’re all too old or poor: no tools, although we’re keen.
We’d do it all by ourselves.
I said it’s really not my habit to annoy
But I can’t think of anything that I can now employ
To get some basic safety that will bring a little joy
There must be fifty ways to hold your fence up.
Fifty ways to hold your fence up.
SO . . Just prop up the gate, Kate
Use an old rope, Hope
You can even use string, Bing
Just listen to me.
Use an old brick, Mick,
Don’t need to do much, Dutch
Just hold up the fence, Spence
An’ keep livin’ in Glebe.
